I had to make a special character to hold items for tonight’s [Oops] party and we decided that it would be easiest to start in Proph, this is probably the last time I will ever create a new Guild Wars 1 character…

Everything they have ever known will come to an end.

It’s kinda sad, really, to think that my current pre-Searing character will never go anywhere else (but then, I created that character when I was intending to try to go for Legendary Defender of Ascalon, which has pretty much fallen by the wayside, so.)

…so looks like this lil fella will have company

One of the highlights of my first play-through of the Prophecies campaign, 4 1/2 years ago now, was when my mentor took me through Gates of Kryta and showed me the Frog who was always parked there.

Oola. Second best Asuran ever. (Behind Blimm, ofc)

I still wonder how Oola’s lab got switched to the opposite side of Rata Sum from where it was in EotN, but I’m not wondering too hard because it’s quite possible that those malfunctioning golems just got too much for her to handle.

A Boggie’s run worth of heket legs for Faith!

True that; you could get enough legs down there to open a chain of Kentucky Fried Heket across the Desolation.

It appears the Wayfarer’s Reverie event is also doubling as the last chance to complete reputation titles as everything seems to be earning double rep points (EOTN titles, Sunspear/Lightbringer, Luxon/Kurzick, VQ rewards, etc)

I know A LOT of people are in a rush to get those precious Hall of…

Add lightbringer to this too, because you can get a boat-load of points from Vanquishing the Desolation and parts of Vabbi.

That being the case, I might actually try to at least max Kurzick this week, though it’d be a long, hard slog, me being still at level 8 and thus needing something like 6.5 million points…

Journey’s end. (For Guild Wars 1, that is).

Susanna of Karlana, the Itinerant Mesmer, at the ruined Elonian statue in the Arid Sea, concluding her nostalgic journey through Tyria and the Wayfarer’s Reverie quest. She received a Tormented Fast Casting Scepter as her reward.

Believe it or not, this was the first time in 4 1/2 years that I had actually visited this landmark on any character, even though I’d been curious about the fallen statue ever since I first saw it while I was being guided through the Crystal Desert by my mentor.  Was it actually still standing and finally collapsed while I was approaching it, or was it just a mirage? I suppose I’ll never know…

Bye Bye Guild Wars 1 (Song + Lyrics)

pestilentcharr:

I just happen to found a song about saying Goodbye to Guild Wars since the author is going to play Guild Wars 2.

I have not played Guild Wars yet I admire the lyrics of this song.

Ah yes…all the nostalgia…

So…this is the Crystal Overlook portal to the Crystal Desert. You can actually see the giant statue of the female Elonian warrior in the distance. I suspect that the Crystal Desert in GW2 is going to look like the Desolation in GW1…

GUILD WARS PEEPS, LISTEN UP!

teaandbickies:

So, as we know, there’s the Wayfarer’s Reverie event that’s going on now, right?  I decided to do some research to see what we get after we get all of the proofs and hand them in.

Well, according to the GW Wiki page, you get…  *drumroll*

A TORMENTED WEAPON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THAT MEANS IT’S A HOM POINT!  WHICH MEANS ONE STEP CLOSER TO 30 POINTS!

OH MY GOD

CAN WE NOW COMMENCE THE LOVE FOR ARENANET NOW?!  AT LEAST, MORE OF IT?!

Wow.

I mean, just WOW.

I only have one Tormented weapon in my entire GW1 inventory, across all my characters, and that’s a weapon that was given to me during a Cathedral of Flames run. Yes, you read that right. I was on a CoF run one evening a couple of years ago and one of the other players just started going nuts and giving us all goodies, and I scored a Tormented communing staff for my rit.

Hmmm, I may need some help

Looking back at the first part of the final GW1 weekend event before GW2 headstart:

I was able to do the EotN part of “Wayfarer’s Reverie” without much trouble, but parts of the main campaign may be tougher and I might need some company. I will have to wait until each element goes active to know exactly where I have to go, but at least one element of the EotN quest turned out to involve going through a whole dungeon (good thing I was doing it all in Normal Mode). I’m done for tonight but expect to be playing more tomorrow, I’m parked in Nightfall right now waiting to go through Fahranur and then on out to the Cyclone Palace.

I don’t think every one of these tour stops necessarily has to do with GW2, but they all represent important elements of the various campaigns.

(I think you can tell that I’m not reacting, ummm, quite as emotionally as some other people (hello, Citri :)  but am more focused on trying to figure out where all the connections to GW2 are, if they’re there.)

Sylvari, behold your forefathers: Ronan and Ventari. (Screenshots taken during the last part of the Eye of the North tour for “Wayfarer’s Reverie”.)

About to do the last part of the Eye of the North quest in “Wayfarer’s Reverie”

This final journey is to visit Ventari’s refuge in Arbor Bay, the future site of the Pale Tree, birthplace of the Sylvari. Be aware that one part of the Eye of the North tour requires you to go through the Bloodstone Caverns dungeon to reach the Shiverpeaks Bloodstone. I don’t know if you have to have the quest “Crystal Method” to be able to go through all 3 levels of the dungeon for this particular quest, but get it at Gadd’s Encampment just in case.

"Wayfarer’s Reverie" festival ongoing in GW1!

Visit the appropriately-titled “Festival” people in each of the main cities (Kamadan, Lion’s Arch, Kaineng Center, Eye of the North) after speaking to Fylinn onboard the ship at Embark Beach. You’re supposed to visit certain locales in each of the three campaigns and EotN, all of which apparently have some connection with GW2.
